Nearly every country in the world has its own army to protect its interests against internal and external enemies. The top ten armies of the world were chosen based on their military history, current operations and size of force as well as their reputation as a military force. Most of these armies were involved in the major conflicts of the modern day world including World War I, World War II and the Korean War. In addition, many of these armies have been involved in conflicts fighting for their own country’s independence.

Post ini merupakan kelanjutan dari post 4 Perbedaan Terbesar Orang Indonesia dan Amerika. Setelah menganalisis lebih dalam lagi dari berbagai sudut pandang, maka saya mendapati 4 perbedaan besar lagi. Baiklah, langsung saja, tanpa basa-basi lagi….

1. WOI! Disuruh turun, ya turun!
   Berbeda dengan orang Indonesia yang kukuh dengan egonya saat menjabat sebagai orang penting, orang Amerika lebih memilih turun dari jabatan saat rakyat sudah muak dengan mereka. Kalaupun mereka tidak mau turun, yang ada rakyat ramai-ramai mendatangi rumahnya dengan obor dan pitchfork, partai oposisi menghujat dengan keras, dan dikejar pembunuh bayaran. Orang Indonesia, di pihak lain, sangat menikmati waktunya saat duduk di kursi enak. Sebagai contoh saja, Nurdin Halid. Dia merupakan contoh yang sangat bagus yang menunjukkan bahwa orang Indonesia sangat susah melepaskan diri saat mendapat fasilitas enak. Meski sudah didemo berkali-kali, asetnya ditarik, dan berkelit dengan badan dunia, ia tetap tidak mau turun dari jabatannya, karena sudah tidak bisa melepaskan diri dari pengaruh kekuasaan. Kita sebenarnya tidak perlu membandingkan diri jauh-jauh ke Amerika. Saudara kita yang lebih dekat, Jepang, malah punya rasa malu lebih besar dari diri kita.


2. Lebih enak jadi atlet atau cendekiawan?
   Seperti yang sering kita dengar, Indonesia berlangganan juara Olimpiade. Jangan salah, setiap Olimpiade Sains Internasional, Indonesia pasti menghasilkan juara yang banyak. Sebagai Liasion Officer pada International Conference of Young Scientists yang sempat diadakan di Bali pada tanggal 12-17 April 2010, saya melihat sendiri bagaimana tim Indonesia merebut hampir 20an medali emas dari negara-negara lain. Sungguh prestasi yang hebat dari kaum cendekiawan kita. Setelah menang Olimpiade Sains, apa yang terjadi dengan pemenangnya? Ia akan ditawari masuk universitas negeri ternama di Indonesia dengan janji beasiswa, dimana ia bisa melanjutkan kariernya atau penelitiannya.

Yes, they dress up the language so that it appears as though Agenda 21 is a pleasant thing, helping women and children. Yeah right! Is it really a good idea to put a bureaucracy in charge of human reproduction and population, as if humans were merely chattel?
